The 6th Solar-B Science Meeting

November 8-11, 2005

The 6th Solar-B Scicence Meeting took place at The Kyoto International Community House, Kyoto, Japan. Solar-B science meetings have been held annually, and this meeting would be the last one before the launch of the Solar-B. More than 130 scientists of 16 nationalities came to attend the first meeting held in Kyoto.

The meeting started with talks by project managers and the principal investigators of each instrument, indicating the satisfactory development of the spacecraft. They are followed by talks on various research topics regarding the Solar-B data. These challenges included the study of internal structure by means of local helio-seismology, coronal diagnostics using shock wave propagation in the corona, and the development of cornal mass ejection which influences the magnetosphere of the earth. Especially, intense discussion was held on primary targets of the Solar-B, namely coronal heating and development of flare. As the launch date approaching, attention was called on initial operation during 3-month-term after the launch.

Many participants have gathered, not only from countries involved in the development of the Solar-B but also from asian nations. We hope to boost scientific achievement in collaboration with the scientists from many countries.
