Ted Tarbell san and Hinode mission

We would like to commemorate the contributions of the late US SOT PI, Dr. Ted Tarbell, to the Hinode mission, particularly to the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT). With his significant experiences of past solar satellite missions such as SoHO and TRACE, Tarbell san has been leading the Hinode mission since its early science definition and design phase. He led the optical design of SOT Focal Plane Package (FPP), development of the correlation tracker, software of science observations of SOT, etc. After the launch of Hinode, he has been contributing the Hinode science operation as a member of Science Working Group. In this special session, we like to review the great contributions of Tarbell san that were indispensable for the success of the Hinode mission.
