Postdoctoral Research Fellow at National Astronomical Observatory of Japan
The SOLAR-C project office at National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) invites applications for a postdoctoral position. The position is funded by the program "Approach to understand the solar coronal and chromospheric heating - from Hinode, IRIS & CLASP to SOLAR-C" supported by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI, PI: S. The successful applicant is conducting (1) study of the solar chromosphere and corona using Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS), (2) development of instruments or science in the sounding rocket program CLASP (http://hinode.nao.ac.jp/CLASP/), and (3) research activity boosting the next solar physics satellite SOLAR-C (http://hinode.nao.ac.jp/SOLAR-C/).
The term starts at 1 April 2014 or later, but no later than 30 September 2014. The term is for three years, subject to annual review for the renewal of the contract. The fellow will receive a monthly salary of about 300,000 JYE plus compensation for commuting expenses, and annual research funds of 500,000 JYE. The applicant must have a PhD degree in astronomy or related fields as of 31 March 2014.
