The Solar-B Project Office was established in October 1997 for the development of the Hinode (SOLAR-B) mission and accomplished its task of successful satellite launch on 23rd September 2006, followed by the start of its scientific operation. The project office reorganized as Hinode Science Center on 1st May 2007, aiming at maximizing scientific output from Hinode.
The mission statements of the Hinode Science Center are:
- Conduct long-term operation of Hinode in cooperation with JAXA
- Maximize scientific achievement of Hinode by promoting collaboration with scientists inside and outside Japan
- Continuously deliver outstanding scietific results as the center of excellence in the world
- Promote education and public outreach on astronomy and space science by using Hinode data
