Inauguration of Hinode Science Center
Solar-B Project Office, which has been developing Hinode (Solar-B) spacecraft since October 1997, achieved brilliant success on Hinode launch and establishment of its steady operation. The project is reorganized into Hinode Science Center on 1st May 2007, aiming at maximizing scientific achievement of Hinode. The mission statements of the Hinode Science Center are:
- Conduct long-term operation of Hinode in cooperation with JAXA
- Maximize scientific achievement of Hinode by promoting collaboration with scientists inside and outside Japan
- Provide outstanding results as the center of excellence in the world
- Promote education and public outreach on astronomy and space science by using Hinode data
- Make up a concept of Solar-C with JAXA, which will be the successor to Hinode (Solar-B)
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the Hinode Science Center.
